Operation Taum

High-Quality RB1 Thermal Coal Resource

Taum farm contributes premium RB1 export-grade thermal coal to Keldoron's Phase 1 operations, offering favorable mining conditions and strategic positioning within the Amajuba Coal Block.

Taum

Operation Overview

Taum farm is one of three priority properties in Keldoron’s initial opencast operations, selected for its high-quality thermal coal resources and excellent strip ratios

The farm contributes to the combined 8.244 million tonnes ROM production target for Phase 1, delivering premium RB1-grade coal suitable for both export and domestic markets

Key Features:

  • RB1 export-grade thermal coal
  • Contributes to 8.244M ROM Phase 1 target
  • Favorable overburden-to-coal ratios
  • Opencast truck & shovel mining method
  • Direct access to transport infrastructure

Coal Quality

Taum farm produces premium RB1 export-grade thermal coal, meeting the highest thermal coal export standard recognized by Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) and international buyers.

The coal quality from Taum aligns with the broader Keldoron resource profile, where approximately 60% of the resource base classifies as RB1 grade according to the Mintek Report (2007).

This premium classification ensures strong demand from both export markets and domestic power utilities seeking high-calorific, low-ash thermal coal.

RB1 Coal Characteristics:

  • High calorific value (energy content)
  • Low ash content
  • Consistent quality profile
  • RBCT export specification compliance
  • Suitable for power generation

Mining Operations

Extraction Method
